Good morning, everybody.
I understand it's back to classes for most of you today. I'm sure you're all going to do something great this term, so let's hope you have a strong start.
My name is Mr. Clay, for those of you that I haven't met yet. That's Caduceus Clay, if you'd rather, but I know it isn't the easiest name to spell. I'm operating the cafe in that brand new building you've probably noticed, provided for you so generously by Mr. Ross and Mr. Shaw.
I'm pleased to announce that The Crossing - that's the name of the cafe - is now open for your enjoyment. It fits in with the school meal plan, like the cafeteria. Tea and coffee including some of those fancy latte drinks are available, as well as juices and smoothies. Food offerings are a soup of the day, sandwiches, salads, açai and yogurt bowls, some nutritious snacks... It's mostly healthy grab and go fare prepared in-house, and our ingredients are sourced from local organic farms. Almost everything is vegetarian, many options are vegan and gluten-free. A convincing case was made to include a few pastries.
I'm playing the schedule by ear for the first few weeks to see what makes sense, but it'll be full service an hour before class starts, available for lunch, until about three in the afternoon with breaks between. The cafe won't really close during off-times, you can come in and use the space as you like if you need to study or a place to socialize, but counter service will be limited. It's just me running the shop for now, and I only plan on locking up overnight or if I have to leave it unattended. There might be a couple of parttime job opportunities to improve hours of operations and expand our menu, if anybody's interested.
I'm living on-site at The Crossing, so if ever there's a medical emergency or the regular infirmary staff are unavailable, please know I'm here to help.
Come try it when you have the chance. I really dig the vibe so far, and I hope you will, too.
